And here's what we've been up to...
Week Beginning: 30th November 2020
This week we have been preparing our letter to Father Christmas. We hope to write them up in our best handwriting next week. We have also used papier-mache to make our own Christmas baubles. Again, we will be decorating these next week. We have also had 4 winners of our advent calendar so far. Congratulations to Maisie, Adam, Jessica and Isabelle.

Week Beginning: 23rd November 2020
This week the children have loved hearing all about The Jolly Postman and how our postal service works. We are very close to finishing our fire engines which will hopefully be making their way home next week.

Week Beginning: 9th November 2020
I would first of all like to thank you all for your kind generosity in supporting the British Legion and buying poppy related items.
We have been looking at alternative fairy tales in English and the children thoroughly enjoyed 'The Stinky Cheese Man'.

Week Beginning: 19th October 2020
We have had an amazing week! I am very impressed with how well the class has settled back into our school routines. I have loved watching the children talk about their own land at the top of The Magic Faraway Tree. The children have also really enjoyed their first session on Times Tables Rock Stars. Please practise at home as much as you can using the login details on the inside of your planner.

We were all extremely proud of all of Key Stage 1 for completing their mini marathon on Friday for such an important cause. If you do have any more donations then please bring them in to school as soon as you can.

The Benefactor: 26th February
This week was an exciting week. We had the opportunity to take part in a Mathematics challenge. We had to solve our part of the challenge and then combine our answers with the other classes around school. It was really fun to learn about budgets and money.
We are Photographers: 30th January
We have started a new computing topic: We are Photographers. So far we have been editing photos from the internet and changing how they look. Now we are taking our own photos and we will be editing them next week.
Christmas Jumper Day: 13th December
Merry Christmas from everyone in Year 2 Birch class! We had great fun in our Christmas jumpers on Friday. Although Mr Longland has worn something Christmassy every day of December so far.
The Great Fire of London: 4th December
Today we had a visit from a special guest. He told us all about The Great Fire of London. We were able to take part in a variety of activities and role-play scenarios. Here is a picture of our 'bucket chain'.
Measuring: 27th November
Today we have been comparing the mass of various objects in our classroom. We then had to order them from lightest to heaviest.
Children in Need 2019: 15th November
This morning we took part in 'The Big Morning Move with Joe Wicks'. We really enjoyed his 5 minute workout.
Great Fire of London Dance: 11th November
We have been learning a routine that links to our topic of The Great Fire of London. In this picture you can see us creating a fire effect using our bodies.
Diwali Dance: 24th October 2019
We had the opportunity to take part in a Diwali dance workshop. We had a great time learning the routine and performing it as a class.

Fire Service Vist: 4th October 2019
We had a visit from the Hertfordshire Fire Service. We had a fantastic time and learnt lots. We were able to sit in the fire engine, try on the clothing and squirt the hose.
